About WEBppliance
WEBppliance is a software application designed to automate the deployment and management of service plans and domains. Designed for service providers and their resellers, WEBppliance has four tiers of role-based self-administration control panels. Each tier targets the needs of service providers, resellers, site managers or end users, providing each role with an easy-to-use interface that streamlines their most common configuration and administration tasks.
WEBppliance™ is packaged with core Web hosting server applications and features that allow you to offer a full range of services to your customers. These services include a Web server, FTP server, DNS server, mail servers, and site security.
WEBppliance also includes many useful administration tools, such as a file manager to help you work with directories and files, a user account manager to maintain the accounts on your domain, and a backup manager to perform your data backups.
WEBppliance provides separate Web browser-based user interfaces for three levels of users. These interfaces allow many different users to easily manage their specific Web hosting administrative tasks. Depending on their role or assigned tasks, users may be using WEBppliance on more than one level. The user levels include:
Reseller - managed by the Reseller Administrator
Domain owner - managed by the Site Administrator
User account holder - managed by the User Administrator
The reseller level of administration is designed for individuals or businesses who want to resell or manage sites without actually owning or maintaining hardware. As a Reseller, you buy sites from an ISP or hosting provider and resell them to individual customers. If you are already a Web site creator, designer, or consultant, becoming a Reseller is a perfect way of diversifying and expanding your business.
As the reseller, you are called the Reseller Administrator, and can:
Create new domains
Manage existing domains
Customize the interface
To begin managing your reseller level tasks, log on to WEBppliance as the Reseller Administrator.
Note: You cannot perform operating system level tasks like starting and stopping services.
The domain level of administration is designed for businesses that want to manage their hosted domains and the services installed on the domains.
As the owner of domains, you are called the Site Administrator, and can:
Set up security features for an entire domain or just an individual Web site
Manage the user accounts on an entire domain or just an individual Web site
Set up protected directories on the Apache Web server
Set up your domain email and FTP features
Work with the directories and files on your domain
View traffic reports about your domain
Back up data from your domain
To begin managing your domain level tasks, log on to WEBppliance as the Site Administrator.
Note: The Reseller Administrator automatically has access to the Site Administrator user interface.
The user account level of administration is designed for someone who subscribes to a domain and is assigned a user account.
As the subscriber, or user account holder, you are called the User Administrator, and can:
Maintain your account contact information
Set up your email services
Access your email messages over the Internet
Publish your Web site content
Back up and restore files from your Web site
To begin managing your user level tasks, log on to WEBppliance as the User Administrator.
