Adding Zones to a Name Server
Note: If you add records to an alias zone (that is, a zone added to an alias domain), before you remove the alias domain, make sure you manually migrate all the records to another zone.
To add a zone to the name server:
- In the shortcuts section of the , click Zones (DNS section).
- Click Add Zone. The Add Zone form opens.
- In the Zone Name field, enter the name of the new zone, for example,
myzone.com
. - In the Master field, enter the host name of the server that you want to designate as the master DNS server for the zone.
- In the Slaves field, enter the host name(s) of the server(s) that you want to designate as the slave server(s) for the zone. Enter each host name on a new line.
- Click Add.
Parallels Pro Control Panel adds the new zone to your DNS configuration and automatically creates the following DNS records.
- Name server (NS) record specifying the zone's name server. The default is the Parallels Pro Control Panel Control Panel server on which the zone operates.
- Start of Authority (SOA) recordspecifying where within the domain name space the name server has authority.
- The Zone List is updated with the new entry.
